Yesterday (06/20/17) was an exciting day for our organization. With humility, honor, and pride we symbolically re-opened our doors and welcomed the world in.

Yesterday May 1st 2017 Nueva Esperanza turned 35. THIRTY FIVE! Though founded 2 years prior, on May 1, 1982 this grassroots organization was officially incorporated by the residents of many landlord-neglected apartment buildings in South Holyoke, one of four neighborhoods in what was once the industrial heart of the city. The founders mobilized residents, collaboratively assisted by three other social organizations, and on their behalf secured the needed financing to rehabilitate the properties in order to provide safe and affordable housing.

On November 21, 2016, Nueva Esperanza held its 34th Annual Meeting! Board members celebrated its organizational, fiscal, and operational stabilization; shared its new draft Mission and Vision; and voted in three new Board Representatives to replace three outgoing Board members.

Tenant residents as well as representatives of Nueva Esperanza, Inc., together recognized as the Voces Corporation (under a limited partnership) of a 36 unit development – as well as the Valley Opportunity Council, Inc.
