Grand Re-Opening & Ribbon Cutting

Yesterday (06/20/17) was an exciting day for our organization. With humility, honor, and pride we symbolically re-opened our doors and welcomed the world in.

We did this in honor and memory of all of those staff members and community members who helped make this organization what it is. To honor their legacy we also kicked off our 35th Anniversary year. This was evident with the more than 100 people who attended our symbolic reopening event.

We were honored to have as part of our speaking program Mistress of Ceremonies Board President Maria Salgado-Cartagena,  Past Board President Joshua Garcia, the first Executive Director of Nueva Esperanza Miguel Arce, City Economic, Planning and Development Director Marcos Marrero and Former Nueva Esperanza staff member and Enlace de Familias Executive Director Betty Medina-Lichtenstein, last but not least Holyoke Mayor Alex B. Morse.

Interim Executive Director Nelson Rivera brought home the mission and vision of Nueva Esperanza by naming examples of how we will work in collaboration with other neighborhood businesses and organizations to create the change and impact necessary to the Puerto Rican/Afro-Caribbean community of Holyoke.
